Listening dysfunction checklist
The following is a list of symptoms that may indicate a listening dysfunction
and some of the symptoms are often associated with an auditory processing
problem:
- Poor auditory attention
- Easily distracted
- Daydreaming
- Poor short term auditory memory
- Over-sensitivity to certain sounds
- Misinterpreting of auditory information
- Needs directions repeated or simplified
- Delayed speech and language
- Weak vocabulary
- Broken or hesitant speech
- Word retrieval difficulties
- Disorganised syntax / sentence structure
- Weak, flat or monotone voice
- Reading, writing and spelling difficulties
- Letter and number reversals
- Poor coordination and motor planning
- Poor sense of balance or rhythm
- Clumsiness
- Left and right confusion
- Restlessness, fidgeting and/or hyperactive behaviour
- Low self-esteem and confidence
